K názvu piesne Lennona inšpirovala poznámka herca Petra Fondu počas ich pobytu v Los Angeles, že vie ako je to byť mrtvy.Herec pod vplyvom LSD vysvetloval Johnovi svoje pocity. John ju vytvoril počas pobytu skupiny v USA v drogovom omámení. Pieseň skupina nahrala dňa 21. júna 1966 v študiu Abbey Road v dobe od 19 hodiny do 3 hod 45 min.Pôvodne nemali pre pieseň názov, až po jej dokončení sa rozhodol pre She Said She Said. Táto brilantná trojminútová pieseň plná zmätku a úzkosti predstavovala rannú časť Johnovej autobiografie, ktorá vyvrcholila na jeho solovom albume Plastic Ono Band. Album Revolver bol v UK aj v USA na vrchole rebríčka celkom 13 týždňov a od RIAA v USA získal 5 platinových platní.
