"She Said She Said" is a song written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon--McCartney) and released by The Beatles on their 1966 album Revolver. Lennon described it as "an 'acidy' song" with lyrics inspired by actor Peter Fonda's comments during an LSD trip in 1965 with members of The Beatles and The Byrds.

The guitar is "singing" with John on this. The sound of his voice followed by the guitar playing the same notes is just haunting. Such a great song

Just to clarify a bit more, while Peter Fonda and John Lennon were tripping on acid Peter says to John "I know what its like to be dead" and I guess that freaked John out. On Peter's 11th birthday he accidentally shot himself in the stomach and almost died. I'm pretty sure the song was originally he said he said, I forgot exactly why they changed it.

How good was John? Raw, gutsy voice, wonderful lyrics, great drumming by Ringo, and George on Sitar by the sound of it. Wonderful album, artwork by Klaus Voorman.

this song has everything... i think it is my favorite of all their songs which is a tough call. I sing it on my ukelele and somehow get more pleasure from singing it than i get from most other songs. John Leduc has said it well, it has lovely words a lovely melody and a lovely break (which was a bit of another song by lennon also. it was harrison who suggested lennon insert the bit into she said to give it that something extra all the best songs have) i just listened to it again and i notice the lead guitar of harrison is so groovy, he is just following lennon's vocal melody but it sounds better than a lot of wanky solos by guitar 'gods' ... also a key thing about this recording is as a singer i notice that the song has been deliberately cut from a selection of takes. it is a subtly cut up remix recording. very new for the time and it still gives the song a trippy edge... basically its perfection!

It's ironic really that while overall I liked Paul's writing better, John still wrote my favorite Beatles song of all time (Namely this one)
