And heres part of why Stans music is so special: with a little research, we find that the Saint Rock (sp) was a real ship, and was the first vessel to complete a west-east trip thrpugh the northwest passage. Under Captain Larson. How awesome is that?

according to the liner notes in coffee house to concert hall (1999), this recording was made in 1981 at University Theatre in Calgary from a reel to reel hoocked to the sound board. Quite a treasur to have. It is written about the arctic expedition St. Roch. This song also has the dinstinction of being beamed into space as the wake up song for Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield in 2001, quite fitting.

I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to attend three Stan Rodgers concerts when I was in my late teens and early twenties. He had a presence on stage that only those who got to be there would understand. Have never seen anyone in any genre of music come close since. During intermission he would come out into the lobby and walk around chatting with everyone. He was very humble and always thanking you for taking the time to attend. Imagine.
