On this day in 1964 {August 22nd} "It's A Sin To Tell A Lie" by Tony Bennett entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart for a one week stay at position #99. Nine years earlier in 1955 Somethin' Smith & the Redheads took their version to #7 on Billboard's Top 100 chart and spent 23 weeks on the Top 100. And on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart Slim Whitman's version reached #21 in 1971. Mr. Bennett, aka Anthony Dominick Benedetto, celebrated his 87th birthday nineteen days ago on August 3rd.

Thank you for posting this song. I have been trying to find this and finally found it! When I was a little boy, this was a favorite album of my late mother. I was in tears tonight thinking about this song and my mother. I was five years old then and now 59 and can still cry. Thank you so much!!
