Correction: This was recorded June 14:th 1951 for Holiday Records. Jackie Brenston did the original a few months earlier,but some people say this version is the first Rock & Roll record. Anyway,this must be one of Bill Haley's earliest rhythm and blues influenced recordings.
The car in the video was equipped with Rocket V-8,Hydra Matic Super Glide,Power Windows,Power Steering,Power Seat,De-Luxe Radio,Autronic Eye,Traffic Light Viewer,Rear Fender Panels and lots of other options.

Bill Haley certainly was the first rock n roller in my book though this record, better than the Ike Turner/Brenston version to me, was too close to hillbilly to be his first rock n roll tune. Danced to this many a time in the clubs over the years! Brilliant tune.9 years назад
