Even as late as '63 Ol blue eyes still had a rich and mellow voice. He makes singing sound so easy--until you try to sing along with him and then you begin to understand what a good singer he was.

Old Devil Moon (Frank Sinatra - 1963 with Lyrics): Este tema pertenece a la película: "El camino del arco iris". Fred Astaire fue su principal intérprete y la canción la cantó Petula Clark dentro de este film. La versión de Sinatra es impecable, como todo lo que grabó este gran cantante.Se la conoce como " Finian's rainbow ".

Both versions are excellent but I prefer the 1963 version a little more.

This is one of Nelson Riddle's greatest arrangements, which originally appeared in Frank's legendary "Swingin' Lovers" album in '56. This "Repertory Theater" version recorded for Reprise in '63 is a bit more upbeat, the fidelity is better in stereo, but the orchestral coda is reduced slightly from the original. The four Repertory Theater CDs, now out of print, are highly prized by collectors. I found a set a few years ago on ebay.

Sinatra was still very strong here, but the 56 version is a bit smoother and cleaner. The Capitol years were his peak, but the early Reprise recordings were great as well. Anyone who has heard the concert Sinatra from 63 knows how strong he still was at that point.

The moon is important. We do an awful lot of things by the light of the moon. One of my favorites is "Full Moon and Empty Arms" by Sinatra. The Voice over top of a Rachmaninoff melody just blows me away.

Was the first Sinatra album I bought as an 18 year old who love the standards. The song is from the Broadway musical "Finians Rainbow".

Wow, Sinatra recorded all the Capitol Records music right there in that tower building off the hollywood freeway. I was born and raised here in Los Angeles. What a city for all the history that was made here, and is still being made here in all the arts and sciences. The 61-64 years are some of his best. Nelson Riddle put the American ochestra sound in that Italians music, and the sound is like a national anthem.

Songs For Swingin Lovers is classic-but I do like Riddle's embellishments here....

Although I agree somewhat, the Reprise version has more oomph than the Capitol.
