An Easter gift: Mario Lanza's beautiful, touching voice with Gordeeva and Grinkov's exceptional ice skating make an incredibly wonderful combination which brings heartfelt meaning to this classic song from the musical Carousel.

The song "You'll never Walk Alone" is from the musical "Carousel".

The work premiered in 1945 and was adapted from Ferenc Molnár's 1909 play Liliom, transplanting its Budapest setting to the Maine coastline." Yekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov are shown here participating in the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This video shows them skating in the second section of their long program for which they won a gold medal. They are actually skating to Frédéric François Chopin's Larghetto.

My goodness, what a scary film. I could only bear to watch a little bit of it. And to think that it is based on fact. I guess that they used Mario's voice in the film because he was alive at that time and the most popular singer. I thought that Kate Winslet did a very convincing job of portraying an insane person. However, I must say this film is definitely not to my taste. I really do not like scary films.

More information about it or about the true murder case of 1954 you can find on wikipedia or elsewhere on the internet: Heavenly Creatures or Parker Hulme. It was Kate Winslet's first movie. Because of this role she got the Titanic role!

Thank you for the information. I have not seen this movie, but will be aware of the title should it be shown on TV. I read a bit about the film on the Internet. Kate Winslet is in it evidently. I've always liked her acting. I look forward to seeing the film in the future. I agree with the screenwriter and producer of the film, if ever there were a person with a "heavenly voice", it was Mario Lanza. Thank you again for the information.

This song is the closing song of the superb Peter Jackson movie "Heavenly Creatures" (1994) about the infamous Parker Hulme murder case (1954, New Zealand). In the movie several songs of Mario Lanza, this is the last one. The two girls the movie is about, Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme, had created a fantasy world around them in which Mario was a Saint! This is a true story.

It is almost impossible not to be moved emotionally when you hear him sing this song, he puts all his heart into singing it.
