The beautiful voice of Mario Lanza and photos of him along with master paintings which accompany the song's lyrics and the excellent ice skating of world famous Russian team of Gordeeva and Grinkov all combine to make this a lovely experience not only for the ears but for the eyes as well.

Henry Geehl (1881-1961) was the composer of this song, For You Alone. "Henry Ernest Geehl [pronounced 'Gale'] (28 September 1881 -- 14 January 1961) was an English pianist, conductor, composer and arranger. Born in London in 1881....His song 'For You Alone' ('Für dich allein'; words by P. J. O'Reilly) achieved great popularity, being recorded by Enrico Caruso, Lauritz Melchior, Jussi Björling and Mario Lanza, among others". (The quote is from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Geehl)

The photos of Mario Lanza are from his film "The Great Caruso", which is an incredibly beautiful film. "The Great Caruso" and Mario's other films are available for purchase from Turner Classic Movies.

The video of Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov skating is from Reverie in the 1992 -- 1993 Stars On Ice at Lake Placid, NY. The choreography for Gordeeva and Grinkov is by Michael Seibert. This video originally is from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQVz9uJiHOU by marysy who has uploaded 67 extremely beautiful videos. I highly recommend visiting this site.

Beautiful editing. G and G are the perfect addition. A great loss of Ginkov to the arts world. Some of the old standards are still the best. I have boxes and boxes of music my mother had when she sang hits of the day on her radio program in the 30s! Publishers would send them to her hoping she would sing them and she did. My Dad was her announcer......that is how they met!

My thanks go beyond words for sharing this wonderful collection with us.  If only all the world could know these songs as we do...how much richer their lives would be and how much better this world!  Thank you.

Thank you for posting this. It is so lovely. Mario Lanza was amazing.  This is an example of his incomparable ability to crossover from opera to popular music which he does so flawlessly, beautifully and with emotion and passion. For anyone who loves Lanza, it is worth reading a new, bestselling book about him: “ A KID FROM PHILADELPHIA, MARIO LANZA, THE VOICE OF THE POETS “It is a marvelous portrayal of the man, his talent, his love of his art and his warmth and why he continues to be considered among the greatest performers of all time.
