This is the song 'Lullaby' from Key the Metal idol anime series. This version is sung by Miho Utsuse and lip sinked to Key (Tokiko Mima). This is Key's song, but she does not sing it in full. Key's version can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5NtTip_8KE

I didnt intend to add video clips, I just wanted to share this song, but decided to add something to it. My first video and only put 30mins into it, so it's a bit crappy; best enjoyed just listening to the music.

Enjoy the song.

a dream, dream, no dream is actually a very beautiful line, - a single dream, the idea of a dream, and nothingness in place of a dream, three words to express an existential purity. A carpet of milk vetch is a field of flowers, btw. These are all things randomly popping up in dreams, and like dreams some are beautiful, some are curious, and some are terrible. And of course the music is lovely.

@Mental Self Mutilation: Well, stopping watching this series at ep.13 is like eating only the main course and missing out on the dessert. And in this case, dessert (95+95 minutes) is more than worth waiting for. :-)

When I heard "A dream, dream, no dream" in the English I thought the original lyrics have to be better than this and turned on the Japanese audio and subtitles. THOSE lyrics were so bad I figured it was a mistranslation, forgetting for a moment that I was watching the commercial release and not a random fansub. But if you think about lullabies in general it's simply the melody, not the lyrics that are important. For example, "Rock-a-Bye Baby" doesn't exactly have a happy ending ;-)

@MentalSelfMutilation I don't know, there are some people who get a kick out of singing about 5 golden rings, 4 colly birds, 3 french hens, 2 turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree... A fairly arbitrary listing of random stuff, but hey still have a melodic, rhythmic quality that makes it fun. The fact that it is in Japanese gives the words in the song a musical quality. The equivalent English song about a sugar daddy giving his "baby" all sorts of things. (Hush little baby...)

@Pull63cat Forgot one thing. The music is really good, at least for being an OVA series.

@VicMignognaAnimeFan Not to bring spoilers around, but this series does not shy away from the hard stuff. It deals with the identity of oneself, the question of human evil, friendship, love and the potential cost of it all – packed into a sci-fi anime OVA series of some questionable production quality (animationwise). But once inside the story, everything else goes out the window. If you're easily drawn to drama series that mixes suspense with existential stuff, this may be right up your alley.

@VicMignognaAnimeFan Her name is Key. The people in the stadium collapse after some machine sucked up all of their energy or most of it. She's singing so they can hear her kinda like giving them hope, at the end of the song she returns their energy to them, and finally returns into fully being human (after many years thinking she is a robot for her own safety, hiding the fact she has superpowers). Great anime, watch it o.o

Listening to this song makes me think of my grandmother. When I was a toddler, she would sing me a special lullaby. She sang the song to me again when I was 10-11 years old (having no memory of hearing it before) and it put me in a trance, like hearing the ghost of a memory. My grandmother passed away when I was 13, I'm 28 now and have no idea what that song was. I'd give anything to hear it again.

Can someone please tell me why everyone in the stadium is sleeping. And who the little girl is. I've never seen the show before. So, I don't know what's going on.

Having seen the series when it was released on VHS back in the 90's, I couldn't help thinking prozac would have helped Key a bit more than acquiring thousands of friends.
