This is Judy Garland at her peak, a wild and sexy performance shot in the middle of her Easter Parade shoot well after principal photography for The Pirate had wrapped. This accounts for Judy looking slightly heavier and healthier than in the rest of the film. She was seriously underweight and battling the side effects of prescription meds and post natal depression throughout the Pirate shoot. Her fragility is camouflaged well by the frilly dresses she wears but look closely and you can see she's too thin. Not that you'd detect anything wrong from her performance, which is one of her sexiest and funniest. This number Mack the Black replaced the deleted Voodoo number, deemed too racy by the powers that be. Hopefully one day the deleted number will surface.

Love this film, one of my faves. Judy and Gene worked so well together and had such great chemistry. This one has got to be their best. Judy looks gorgeous with the long wig on too. Wish she could have done more swashbuckling films like this!
