Earlier in the movie. Months before this song was filmed, MGM thought she was fat and needed to lose weight. She weighed 110 lbs. She was fired from MGM after this film. They didn't like how she was acting with drugs and all. Saddest story. She was a VERY beautiful and VERY talented woman and mother.
