When I finally get to work in my hospital as a nurse, I plan on singing this to some of my older female patients. But I'll put their name in "Dear Mrs. Wilson, I am writing this to you..." Maybe it'll cheer them up a little. ;-)

Born February 1, 1901, in Cadiz, Ohio. Happy Birthday, Mr. Gable. You're still the King of Hollywood.

From mooning teenager in this number to wistful farm girl in "Over the Rainbow" to exuberant young woman falling in love in "The Trolley Song" to adult torch singer lamenting "The Man that Got Away," Judy Garland tells a complete story in each and every one of these numbers and does so immaculately. She was and is absolutely remarkable.

In her 1937 MGM feature debut the auspicious-and-efficacious 15-year-old Ms Judy Garland had daintily-and-heartily playacted her musical number - writing a fan-letter and adulating her screen idol Mr Clark Cable with her winsome rendition of Mr Roger Edens' sycophantic "Dear Mr Cable"/Mr James Monaco and Mr Joseph McCarthy's charismatic "You Made Me Love You".It's such marvelous to have this special kind of euphoric-and-nostalgic film clip which has showcased the commanding voice and the confounding skill of the slightly-corpulent yet opulent teenage Ms Garland - who had eventually become one of the most incomparable, indispensable, and indomitable dignitaries / personalities in the history of the Hollywood motion pictures.Indeed! The very mention of her name sends our hearts drooling-and-reeling.

The best and most natural Judy Garland --she was so bloody beautiful and charming. MGM exploited her and killed her --any film after 1942/3 shows the effects of that. We're lucky to have this film.

extreme fangirling, especially at the end. Its funny, because towards the end, she does the talking part, and she is acting so sweet and gentle and kind. Then when she starts singing again, she gets louder, leans in closer, and gets a crazy look in her eyes. I think she was planning to kidnap him. Don't get me wrong though. This is one of the greatest songs i think i've ever heard.

Dear Mr. Gable,I am writing this to youAnd I hope that you will read it so you'll knowMy heart beats like a hammerAnd I stutter and I stammerEvery time I see you at the picture show.I guess I'm just another fan of yoursAnd I thought I'd write and tell you so.You made me love youI didn't wanna do it, I didn't wanna do it.You made me love youAnd all the time you knew it, I guess you always knew it.You made me happy, sometimes you made me glad. But there were times, sir, you made me feel so sad.You made me sigh 'causeI didn't wanna tell you, I didn't wanna tell youI think you're grand, that's trueYes I do, 'deed I do, you know I do.I must tell you what I'm feelingThe very mention of your nameSends my heart reeling. You know you made me love you!Aw, gee, Mr. Gable, I don't wanna bother you! Guess you got a lotta girls that tell you the same thing. And if you don't wanna read this, well, you don't have to. But I just had to tell you about the time I saw you in "It Happened One Night". That was the first time I ever saw you, and I knew right then you were the nicest fella in the movies! I guess it was 'cause you acted so, well so natural like - not like a real actor at all, but just like any fella you'd meet at school or at a party. Then one time I saw you in a picture with Joan Crawford, and I had to cry a little 'cause you loved her so much and you couldn't have her - not 'till the end of the picture, anyway. And then one time I saw you in person. You were making a personal appearance at the theatre, and I was standing there when you got out of your car, and you almost knocked me down! Oh - but it wasn't your fault! Naw, I was in the way. But you looked at me, and you smiled. Yeah! You smiled right at me as if you meant it, and I cried all the way homeMe just 'cause you smiled at me for being in your way! Aw, I'll never forget it, Mr. Gable. Honest. You're my favorite actor!(singing)I don't care what happens, let the whole world stop.As far as I'm concerned, you'll always be the top,'cause you know you made me love you.

She has the best voice of ALL TIME! I know she looks very childish here but I don't care, even here she's gorgeous.

Emotionally true in the simplest, most affecting terms. Ah, but that voice. Ravisihng tone quality, perfect intonation, with the incomparable freshness of youth. All this in a fifteen year old kid. Man, it doesn't get better than this. (She's damn pretty here, too.)
