Nice cover by Springsteen, real gritty. I imagine the late great Johnny Cash wished he could have sang it with this vibe which he would have done in his earlier years. His voice just wasn't up to it which is a shame. People love it anyway because he's a legend. Sting's version is excellent, it's hard sing a narrative and he does it. Also I find it so ironic people saying Sting is pretentious and puerile because it simply demonstrates they haven't heard his catalogue of music since the mid 70s. He''s wrote plenty of world class tunes and his Blue Turtles where the only band to cover Hendrix with imagination and class. Plus the lone rider had just posted a comment on YouTube about Sting being pretentious.

Love Bruce and this version but I saw sting live perform this- and I thought stings voice and brass section brought more to this song than Bruce- still love this version though
