What happened to American Popular music? Where are the players like Skunk, Pat, Tyrone and Michael these days? Thanks Doobies!

I'm not sure if this was the last song recorded for this album, but it's certainly the last song in succession on the album. Considering he left the band shortly after this, what a great solo for the Skunk to go out on.

This song is very Dan-ish. Jazzy byzantine chords, smooth melodies, fractured structure, and tasty horn charts- all wrapped up in bleak lyrics.

I was fortunate to meet Pat Simmons in 1977 -'78 when the album was released He went to Leigh High School, in San Jose and ran Track. His coach, Earl Adams worked at Prospect High School in Saratoga, California when I went there ~ small world. Pat is a damn good "Picker" too! Listen to the Title Track on the Toulouse Street Album. Hypnotic!!

I asked him why he doesn't play it in his concerts and he said he was afraid that it was too obscure or that people wouldn' t like it. I told him he was wrong!

That ending guitar solo has the perfect mix of soul and country! Rock and RnB.. I guess because both come from the heart

With the urgent tempo, jazzy harmonics, and message of a frustrated God (Oh, why do they come and ask for more? ... They're just giving up their blame to me.), this could almost be a lost track from Jesus Christ Superstar... only, too GOOD to make the cut.

They headed out to a new jazzy direction alongside M.McDonald ...The DBs are most remembered (IMO) with Michael in than from the pre Michael era...lol Sorry for the detractors....

some say the music of DB's phase 2 was soft. imo with Skunky on lead & the rest of the Doobie's including the wonderfully talented Micheal on lead vocals in tow..Man it just doesn't get any better..just one old man's opinion.
