By request, two more Herman's Hermits' BBC recordings. The first one, Hello Mary Lou, was recorded exclusively for BBC, unreleased on disc. This Gene Pitney composition was released for the first time back in 1961 by Rick Nelson, in a double-A sided single with Traveling Man. Herman's Hermits' arrangement of this country hit is very similar to Rick's original, but played in the ever-enjoying Hermits way (reminds me of I Call Out Her Name, from Blaze). The second track presented here is the much known Sleepy Joe, but in a different live version. Note the complete ending, instead of the fade-out of the single version. I prefer this version than the released one, mainly because the bass and the drums have more punch. Hope you like it. Leonardo, Brazil. Credits: Hello Mary Lou (Pitney-Mangiaracina); Sleepy Joe (Carter-Lewis); Announcer: Brian Mathew (famous for hosting The Beatles' appearances on Saturday Club); From Top of the Pops, BBC, june 1968; Photos: www.hermanshermits.com

On this day in 1973 {June 28th} the '1960's British Rock Invasion Revisited' concert was held at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Canada...The show featured Gerry and The Pacemakers, Wayne Fontana, the Searchers and Herman's Hermits...The last time that any of the four acts appeared on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart was in 1968 when Herman Hermits' "Sleepy Joe" was at #80 on June 15th, 1968, its last day on the chart, the week before it was at #61, its peak position on the Top 100...

Peter Noone once said that Lek was the only person he'd ever heard that could play like James Burton (or something like that, I don't remember the exact quote). It's great to finally hear that Peter was right.
