I'm going to see Michael C. Hall for the second time next week. He was brilliant, played a much more sympathetic and less Broadway-esque Hedwig. But I really love John Cameron Mitchell as well. I try again and again to give NPH another chance, but my God, he is SUCH AN ASS. Everything he does is so overdone and shrieks, "Attention whore, over here! Someone please validate me!" I thought he might have the good sense not to ham up Hedwig is his usual over the top fashion, but I'm sorely disappointed once again. Yes, Hedwig has camp and humor but it also has vulnerability and a shaky, tender emotional quality to it. NPH trounced all over Hedwig's heart in his glitter heels because he doesn't understand the meaning of words like authenticity and subtlety. For shame. *I know the NPH Defense Force is about to activate, but chill, this is just my opinion.* 10 years назад

The thing I loved about his performance at the Tony's (and what helped me accept him as Hedwig) was that he played her as more of a hot mess than even the original - it was fabulous and sad and campy and completely Hedwig. This version of Wicked Little Town is polished and precise in a way that's harder to accept. 10 years назад
