Hank sometimes sang about "The Wild Side of Life" where the "wine and liquor flowed"when he and his band played in Oklahoma. However, Oklahoma was the last state in the union to repeal prohibition of everything stronger than 3.2 beer in 1959. Well......not that that really seemed to stop the wine and liquor from flowing. People just took it in a brown paper sack and passed it around outside the country and western dances or later paid for set-ups in clubs while adding their own liquor which they brought in a brown paper sack. And of course people could always make a run up to Kansas and get some liquor legally to bring home and keep up in the kitchen cabinet for medicinal purposes.
