This year , 2011 , marks the 40th Anniversary of the release of his debut album HIMSELF . This powerful song is still relevent today with its profound lyrics like " Will I glance at my screen and see real human beings starve to death right in front of my eyes " . It`s one of Gilbert`s most covered songs, with versions by such great artists as Tom Jones , Dusty Springfield , Burton Cummings , Aslan and many more . I don`t think any of them come close to Gilbert`s version - but that`s a matter of opinion !
