Freddie rended the song as introspective as it could be. Nice idea usin' the flute in the Intro and for the "backgrounds". Some Pop tunes covered by Jazz artists are sometimes a letdown addin' nothing to the original but the melody played by an instrument instead of the voice. In this case the blues spreads from the trumpet like there were lyrics. Music tells what's happened to the promises made IN THE SPRING OF LIFE
