Live Kelly actually covered several more songs that Jeff originally recorded. Also, Jeff also had Kelly sing almost every part of every song on the recordings - usually (especially "Out of the Blue") doubling all parts so he could mix to his preference. Kelly joined during the tour of "Eldorado - A Symphony by the Electric Light Orchestra" so of course he was not around for those recording sessions, he had to learn the songs and jump on the tour. "Poorboy" was one Kelly sang live as well.

It is Kelly singing the high chorus's and Jeff doing the verses, Jeff is a great singer but he is also a smart singer, and knew he needed to save his voice to make it through the tour. Kelly has a higher range, and Jeff would often push himself in the studio to the very top of his range - making it impossible to recreate live night after night. As you can hear at the very last chorus, Kelly had no problem hitting the highest notes and could still go a bit higher if needed.

ELO is a great band. I love all his music, Jeff is a real genious, and he should have a tribute as big as his music. Eldorado is a artistic jewel. Where can i Find this version to hear. Please let me know. I love Eldorado song and this version is awsome!!!!!

What a voice! And what a melancoly... When I listen this song I d like to left this world and make the beautiful voyage to The Seven Cities of Cibola. I think Jeff was thinking about this legend, thinking about the legendary golden city, EL DORADO, ubicated at South Amèrica. It was the dream of european sailors an conquerors. EL DORADO....like a Golden Shangri La...and that voice!!

very cool I just luv elo saw them 15 time live this tour included 2x once at michigan palace detroit mi and at olympia (hockey stadium)detroit. "on the third day" was my first elo show at michigan palace 1 yr before. MD was the one

Sometimes it's hard for a live performance to match the studio album. They definitely hit the nail on the head with this one though; always loved Eldorado, and considering this was just with two cellos and a violin, this is outstanding!
