Charted at #78 on Billboard Hot 100 in August 1956. B-side of "Ghost Town" which charted at #22. After Don made a comeback to the charts (he had a few hits in the early '50's) with his smash hit, "Band of Gold" (charting at #4 in December 1955), he continued to chart throughout 1956 with his singles before dissappearing from the charts again. Later, he had one or two minor items on the Adult Contemporary and Country charts in the late '60's. This song had earlier been a #16 hit for the Mills Brothers in February 1944. Written by Alec Wilder.

An unfair request (apologies to 'catman', who will understand). Would you be able to find and take the time to share with us the tracks from vocalist (and golfer) Don (Band of Gold) Cherry's 'Swingin' for Two' Columbia LP? No idea how to go about it myself. That's the album cover you have right there. This was my brother's record but I played it much more often. There was something in Mr. Cherry's slight nasal tone that I felt was authentic American cadence in speech (listen to 'I'll String Along with You'). These arrangements (Mitch Miller's?) fit his range to a 'T'. The Ray Conniff sound, orchestra and chorus, was very appropriate. All favorites, with 'For You?; 'So Rare' more so than others. 'I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Right Myself a Letter' was as playful as Sinatra's.The tracks were: 01 When the Sun Comes Out02 For You03 Love Is Just Around the Corner04 I’ll String Along With You05 I Didn’t Know About You06 So Rare07 I’m Yours08 I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Right Myself a Letter09 Please Be Kind10 My Future Just Passed11 I Don’t Care If the Sun Don’t Shine12 Sleepy Time Gal.

Thank you! I've been looking for this song for years by Don. Do you have any idea where I can get it? Neither amazon downloads of iTunes have it... Thanks
