i really love the dirty beaches stuff, alot of people seem to compare him to suicide, i can see why, but you must remember suicide were also a POST- ROCKNROLL band, they were taking ideas from surf rock and garage rock too. these two artists may have the similar influences but they have very individual signitures and styles. its just lazy to say he is copying suicide.

@extratzatziki actually, you can find influences from tom waits, the cramps, orbison, stooges (he covers no fun)....as well as your beloved Suicide. I don't think Alan Vega would have any problems with this. In interviews he says badlands is dedicated to his Taiwanese grandfather and lists Bukowski and Henry Miller as influences on his writing. Those influences don't come across as someone trying to water down. You stink extratzatziki. Go eat a gyro. All music has influences silly man.
