This is why we love her. It's what she does best. She keeps it real, gets out in the audience and delivers the goods. Simple as that. Who cares about lighting, its all about the relationship between her and her fans. Love her!

We won't see another Divas show like that again

Why didn't Donna Summer do The Supremes with Miss Ross and Mariah Carey? It's not explained, only said that she chose to not do it. What gives?

Diana Ross might not have the powerful voice of Aretha or Donna, but she conquered people all over the world with her style, her beauty, her songs, her movies and thats why she is the ULTIMATE DIVA

yeah motown wasn't exactly the top label in the 80s, thanks again for proving my point. Diana is not in the same league as Aretha. her own insecurities are shown through her Diva Antics. there's no doubt Diana was the "it" girl in the 60s nobody cant take that away from her but she's NOT the ultimate Diva. perhaps the Ultimateprimadonna. certainly irrelevant in the 80s thus why MTV wouldn't kiss her ass. it seems to me Diana's diva attitude prevails over her diva qualities (voice and hitmaker)

The biggest selling Motown single of all-time (at the time) Endless Love was in the 80s, as were her biggest selling solo album 'diana' (the Chic album) all those big RCA hits like Why Do Fools and Mirror Mirror and the international million seller Chain Reaction. But it isn't even about hits - once someone reaches the level of a Ross or Streisand or Tina or Aretha (or Elton or Springsteen etc) it goes beyond however well their current single is received on radio. That's why they're icons.

she was never relevant during MTV era. her career had faded by the 70s, MTV started in the 80s, you can ask America's bandstand to kiss her ass, but MTV would be like "who is Diana Ross?"

to Call Diana "ultimate diva" is not accurate. A) she hadn't had a hit in 80s or 90s, or 2000s, unlike Aretha or Donna Summer. Diana Ross Lacked a voiced that blew you away. Ultimate Voice Divas are A) Aretha, Donna, Barbra Streissand, Ultimate Hit/pop culture Diva is Madonna who while lacks a strong voice has the hits and the showmanship that have turned he r into the Ultimate Diva. Ross was more like the ultimate primadonna.

And then again, she finifshes the song while she is going up on the stage. I would like to know which is the exact order of these events because it is a little bit confusing. Thank you very much for your help!! Take care!!

@AIKAN74 And one more thing, before Diana & MAriah's Medley of Supremes songs, Hilary Swank appears talking about how Diana Ross go through the different stages of relationships with her songs. Now, I would like to know which is the right order because I have always been curious about it. And I only have the second half of the song Best Years of My Life. She seems to finish the song twice, saying thank you for the best years of (Oh, my God)

@AIKAN74 I have the one that aired in Europe. Touch me in the morning was cut from the version that I have and it was very edited. I have the monologue done by Mariah Carey about her solo career right after Faith Hill's "What's in it for me?" performance. After Diana Ross's solo set (Touch me in the Morning, Endless Love and The Best Years of my Life) they put a review clip of "The Supremes", it seems also edited because I think they showed this clip some time before at the show.

@marcosvalenca Unfortunately they are back but they are the worst. Instead of choosing real divas they invite Katy Perry and Nicky Minaj. They suck!!!

I wonder why The Divas specials stopped to be made.

A lot of the "issues" surrounding this show would have been resolved by using 2 words:George Schlatter, legendary television producer("TCB" & "GIT:On Broadway"). He loves Diana Ross, would have collaborated w/ her & would have shown the knudknicks at VH1 how to create a really spectacular special. Still, it did become on of VH1's highest-rated specials, so, It couldn't have been all bad.:)

They said the same things about Mariyn Monroe, but Marilyn continuously DELIVERED! Now smart team players would shut up and enjoy the fruit of their labor.
