I love this song and also makes me sad because it discribes what we cannot stop....bussiness and money taking everithing over.. and it seems there is nothing we can do: power of money is stronger than living normaly: tomorrow morning the man from the bank is takin it all away...

If everyone had basic needs met, housing, food, clothing. A large percentage of crime across the board would be gone. I suppose there is no fun looking down a nose if there is no one to look down on? They can bail out the rich with no problem. Help those who work their lives away? God forbid.

"Midnight, that old clockkeeps ticking,The kids are all asleepand I'm walking the floor.Darlin' I can seethat you're dreaming,And I don't wanna wake you upWhen I close the door. This old house of oursis built on dreamsAnd a businessman don't knowwhat that means. There's a garden outsideshe works in every dayAnd tomorrow morninga man from the bank'sGonna come and take it all away.Lately, I've been thinking'bout daddy,And how he alwaysmade things work, when the chips were down,And I knowI've got something inside meThere's always a lightthere to guide meTo what can't be found. This old house of oursis built on dreamsAnd a businessman don't knowwhat that means. There's a swing outsidethe kids play on every dayAnd tomorrow morninga man from the bank'sGonna come and take it all away.Take it all away, take it all away, take it all away.Take it all away, take it all away, take it all away.Remember how we first camehere together?Standing on an empty lot, holding hands.Later, we came backin the moonlightAnd made loveright where the kitchen is,Then we made our plans. This old house of oursis built on dreamsAnd a businessman don't knowwhat that means. There's a garden outsideshe works in every dayAnd tomorrow morninga man from the bank'sGonna come and take it all away.Take it all away, take it all away, take it all away.Take it all away, take it all away, take it all away".#LenFM

This song is gut-wrenchingly beautiful. It's simplicity is beyond words.

This house (in the pic) is actually right down the street from me. Bizarre to find it here on one of my favorite songs.

Lost my father when I was 15,2nd oldest of 7.Lived in a house similar to this one,a guy gave an old lawnmower and I used go to the ritzy neighborhoods and cut grass for my money for clothes etc. When mom went to the home in '90 I found my old metal gas can in her shed.I'm in my '60s now but I use it still, brings back memories .I still remember the good times in that old house.Had a pic took of me in front of it when I was visiting the old town just days before it was torn down.

I'm sorry that you had to live through something so awful. I would have done something to help if I had known your family and I know that there are many other people that would too. How sad that your "friends" were not there for your family. I'm glad that you somehow made it through in spite of those terrible times.

My grandparents love this song. It was playing on the radio while my parents and me were at my grandparents in their backyard for a mother's day breakfast.

Mike - sorry to read about your sorrows. That's a sad tale. It makes me realize we're all about one emergency from your situation. I hope you've had some opportunities to 'show folks how it ought to be done' since those old times of yours. Cheers and peace and love.

Talk about memories I'd rather forget, but need to remember sometimes too. I do remember well when me, my four siblings and my mom were told we had a month to come up with what seemed like a zillion dollars or we had to get out. Timmy was dying with spinal meningitis and all our "wonderful" friends and neighbours all of a sudden were too busy with their own stuff to even bother offering their fucking garage to us for a place to sleep. Well fuckers, Timmy's gone, but we're all still here.
