Raster interrupts are interrupts that are triggered on specific scanlines. I'll PM you a link to an excellent tutorial that deals with them.

Yes. For example in WinVICE just drag and drop a tape file to begin loading. Original c64 tape files have .TAP extension. There's a thread about those loading stripes at lemonc64, here's a quote relating to Ocean Loaders in particular: "However, you may notice a tape loader (such as the Ocean Freeload) switches border colour during loading. This is used to indicate each block of data which has successfully loaded into the Commodore 64's memory"

I think if I remember right, My favourite loading on the Commodore 64 was Cabal, My mate discovered that if you hit play on the tape at the end of each level, Even if you died, It would skip you on to the the next level, Right up to the last one, It was some years ago mind
