Title music begins at 3:32. Mostly played this loader with Wolf. Ocean loader 5 & Operation Wolf music were both made in 1988 by Jonathan Dunn.

I have posted a video response where I complete the game without cheats (but saves between levels).

Raster interrupts are interrupts that are triggered on specific scanlines. I'll PM you a link to an excellent tutorial that deals with them.

It was probably achieved via raster interrupts in the borders.

no way did they use the same loading picture as the spectrum

Yes. For example in WinVICE just drag and drop a tape file to begin loading. Original c64 tape files have .TAP extension. There's a thread about those loading stripes at lemonc64, here's a quote relating to Ocean Loaders in particular: "However, you may notice a tape loader (such as the Ocean Freeload) switches border colour during loading. This is used to indicate each block of data which has successfully loaded into the Commodore 64's memory"

I think if I remember right, My favourite loading on the Commodore 64 was Cabal, My mate discovered that if you hit play on the tape at the end of each level, Even if you died, It would skip you on to the the next level, Right up to the last one, It was some years ago mind
