Buddy Holly by Weezer.- Lyrics Buddy Holly is from Weezers’ debut album “The Blue Album” and was written by lead vocalist / guitarist Rivers Cuomo. The single came out on the day Buddy Holly would have been 58 years old. It references 50s’ actress Mary Tyler Moore. The song went as high as #2 on the US Modern Tracks back in 2010. Buddy Holly also came in at #59 on the VH1 100 Greatest songs of the 90’s back in 2007. Cuomo recalls that he thought about not including the song on the album, but was encouraged by producer Rick Ocasek (The Cars) to include it.
