THE DRUMS

The drums sound so epic in this version, I wish the drums had more of a presence in the released version, but still awesome without a doubt

Suzzy, I think the version on the album, and that he performs, is not so much anger as it's raw, intense passion, with a touch of desperation. OK, and a dash of anger, caused by frustration.

You can find the lyrics at a website called: Lebanese Tribute To Bruce Springsteen.

BBDAWG...you are right! I will give you a little fact. I can't remember exactly when, but Rolling Stone Magazine once rated this song as the all-time No.2 rock & roll song, only behind Led Zep's 'Wholle Lotta Live'...as the kind of song that gets the blood pumping right away and makes you jump out of your seat as soon as you hear the first note.

John....how's it going. I can't belive after 38 years, this is the first time I have heard this alternate version. You are right about 1978. The Mona/Fade Away intro to this song is great. Sometimes it last 10 or 12 minutes. Listen to the Hammersmith-Odeon London concert from 1975. The intro is with the harmonica and it is awesome. In the late 80's, the intro was with the Bo Diddley/George Thorogood medley. Hope all is well.

It's like he says.....it's like working on a car. You take some parts from one to fix another one.

@hjf11393 No. This is a an outtake bootleg. I'm gonna guess Bruce doesn't care as much as he used to. His career, his stature, have been cemented. I doubt this is an arena of his life in which he doubts what he's sure of.

@CPSJSMSUUMUGA I THINK this is from the Born to Run sessions or some kind of dvd/cd combo, I forget the exact title. but that could be why he hasn't had this taken down yet.

Check out the song as performed on the 1978 Darkness tour. He cover's Buddy Holly's, "Not Fade Away," and transitions seamlessly into She's the One. It's a stunner. This is interesting, but I much prefer the final version that is on the albm, and which is performed at almost every show. I'm surprised it hasn't been taken down. He's OK with live boots, but doesn't like outtakes circulating.
