Released on the 1962 album, "Sincerely, Brenda Lee". This song was originally a hit in 1940 for Glenn Miller, Tony Martin and Tommy Dorsey. Brenda's arrangement is very similar to the 1960 Brook Benton remake, which had recently been a hit at the time of this recording. Ricky Nelson scored another hit with the song in 1963. Written by Rube Bloom & Johnny Mercer.

Brenda took advantage of Rick Nelson's fast-tempo upbeat of this now classic. Well done by Brenda, indeed. It's our blessing and good fortune to still have Brenda Lee, and those fortunate enough to see her in person are many in number.

While I agree with your point that presentation is a significant factor in the success or failure of modern performers, I disagree that popular artists today have no more talent than the general public, or any less talent than musicians of past decades. Auto-tune is often used in radio versions, and often overused, true, but there are definitely great voices on the market. I recommend looking up acoustic performances of popular artists before suggesting they're all mediocre singers.

Rick Nelson also had a hit with FOOLS RUSH IN. Lesley Gore recorded a version of this song for her 2nd album, LESLEY GORE SINGS OF MIXED-UP HEARTS (1963).

@guitarbrittany31 - I guess it depends where you are looking. Some of the 'Indies' have really got a lot going for them. Look on 'Youtube' for Lindi Ortega. She is half Hispanic/half Irish and hails from Toronto (Originally). Her CD released in July 11 (Little Red Boots) is really solid (other than tracks 1 & 5), and she wrote all of the songs as well. You will get a HUGE kick out of 'Jimmy Dean' (the actor, not the sausage king) Keep on Rockin everybody!!!

@guitarbrittany31 Exactly right. That's why there are light shows and a million special effects in the presentation of singers today. It's not about singing anymore. It's about image. Singers can't simply stand on a stage and sing beautifully, the way the singers of the past did. The top pop singers today have no more singing talent than the general public, they just get the promotion if they have the look and dance moves to make a manufactured package, and machines alter their voices.
