Tower of Power

GO DOWN GAMBLIN pieseň skupiny BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS, ktorej autorom bol David Clayton Thomas a ktorá v roku 1971 skončila na 32.m. ako šiesty a posledný TOP 40 hit skupiny od roku 1969. Na nahrávke na albumu hral solovú gitaru Thomas. Solo na gitaru v podaní Larryho DeBari obsahuje úkážku zo skladby Jimmiho Hendrixa (1942-1970) 3RD Stone From The Sun, ktorá bola v roku 1982 vydaná ako maxisingel so skladbami Voodoo Chile, Gipsy Eyes a Hey Joe. Záznam z koncertu 11. júla 1993 na Jazz Festivale v North Sea v zostave Larry DeBari gitara, Gary Foote basová gitara, Neil Capolongo bicie, Glen McClelland klavesy, Jerry Sokolov trubka, Steve Guttman trbka, Tim Ries tenor saxofon,Charley Gordon trombon a David Clayton Thomas spev.Fred Lipsius nebol autorom piesne len ju aranžoval s Thomasom.

I saw this performed live -- twice -- with David Clayton-Thomas on guitar (He wrote the song, y'know!), but Mr. DeBari has eclipsed David's technical ability.

The groups that first played in the 60s and 70s had terrific musicians so therefore live performances were better than albums.

Those were the days. Artists performed LIVE and left every ounce of their being on the stage. Nowadays nobody really does it the way these men did it. It's all dubbed, lip-synched. All of today's major "stars" do it. I remember some years ago when Beyonce, at a basketball game, came down from above. You could hear her singing even though she wasn't holding a mike. When she reached the ground she has handed one and she continued singing. There was no change in the sound whatsoever. Amazing!!
