Although Rudy Pompilli and Al Rex get the lion's share of the attention here, Ralph Jones' drum solo (which is performed almost identical to how it's done in the Rock Around the Clock movie) is quite remarkable. I've spoken to professional drummers who have tried to replicate it and they say it's very difficult.

Truly pioneers. Bill Haley and the Comets were great! To think of this performed on Ed Sullivan at that time is unbelievable. I'm sure they were frowned upon by most every household. Love it!

While I would have to say that :"Pat-A-Cake, Live it Up, and "You Hit the Wrong Note Billy Goat" where not exactly good songs recorded by Haley's Comets.

Bill's contribution to Rock and Roll is grossly overlooked which in this writer's opinion is attributed to "IMAGE". Some of the best ROCK and ROLL music came from this Guy and his Band. No "Faking It" here.

Very versatile band; they could incorporate jazz and swing right in with the rock. Is that a cello he was riding? LOL
