Solo 1:06

Ending 1:44

A cover of a Larry Williams song. Harrison used his Tennessean I used a 1966 Gretsch Country Gentleman [which sounds quite similar] played through a Vox AD15VT set to AC30TB w/ no effects. Min Bass, Min Mid, Max Treble. .010 -.046 nickel plated wire wound strings. I raised the gain control on my Vox AD15VT to get the overdriven sound. I cut out the first and third verses but all of the lead parts are there -- verse riff, middle eight solo and ending riff. George Martin overdubbed the piano part after the song was recorded.

My videos are really intended for accomplished guitarists who want to polish up their Beatles repertoire and can benefit from "seeing" how a song is played. If the various chords that I am playing are not familiar to you then I would suggest that you visit some of the many free guitar chord sites. I had to learn these songs by listening to vinyl records and watching live performances on tv.

George Harrison

Seems like the song consists out of the solo. Great job there! :)

I love nuance. You nailed the detail on this one. It's driving me crazy however. What strings and frets are you playing towards the end of the solo at 1:35 to 1:37? You are lifting your finger up and down on one of those strings. I can't seem to recreate it. Thanks for the lesson.

The more that I get to see actual run-throughs and renditions of these songs by the Beatles themselves, I'm reminded of an answer that Pete Townshend (three chords and a cloud of reverb, and believe me, I'm a huge Who fan also!) once gave to a young female fan when asked about the quality of play by the eras rock musicians, using The Beatles as an example, and he replied that if you listened to The Beatles, without the vocals, they were "...flippin' lousy.". These play-throughs and the recordings, themselves, prove otherwise. Nice try, Pete...

George Martin is playing the same riff on a piano, plus there is another guitar doing slide up chords. I don't here a 12 string.

Do you think a 12- string was used for the main riff? I dont know but i hear two octaves

Thanx for your question. It is a 1966 Gretsch Country Gentleman model 6122. It differs from the Harrison model slightly - tuning machine knobs are Kidney Bean instead of Stair Step and the neck pickup is Supertron instead of Filtertron. There is tons of info on the web.

Nickel round wound. Any good brand will do. Don't believe the stories about Pyramid Gold flat wounds. In the early sixties almost all strings were flat wound, but as soon as round wounds became available the Beatles used them.

@yellowsub68 @yellowsub68 Hi, thanx for your comment. I use a free audio editing software called Wavepad, but there are many other free apps available - Google Audio Editing freeware. Using the editing software I just cut out the parts of the song I don't want. You have to be precise or the edits will be obvious.

How did you shortened the Beatle songs?
