A great song that the Beatles never performed in concert. I deleted the second verse. The Rickenbacker 360/12 and Gibson J-160E are both played through a Vox AD15VT set to AC30TB w/ no effects. It is difficult to get the original sound without playing both guitars together. They really combine similar ringing tones to form one big guitar sound. The odd Em6 that Lennon hits for one strum at 1:06 is probably an error but has become forever part of the song. The chords for the intro are Em7 and A7 (A for Harrison). The chords for the verse/refrain are D, Bm7, Em7 and A7. The bridge is D7, G7, A7, Bm, Em7, A7, D. The outro is Bm, Bflat, Bflat7, Em7 (Gadd9 Harrison) A7 (A6 Harrison) D.

My videos are really intended for accomplished guitarists who want to polish up their Beatles repertoire and can benefit from "seeing" how a song is played. If the various chords that I am playing are not familiar to you then I would suggest that you visit some of the many free guitar chord sites. I had to learn these songs by listening to vinyl records and watching live performances on tv.

I think you missed one chord change during "I really can't stand it I'm so in love with you" There are 3 chords rather than Em7-A7sus. There is a 3rd chord in between. I agonized over that for years. Please give a close listen.

Both those guitars sound like banjos. Makes sense. John did like to change things around

Just wondering what kind of strings you use on your j-160e.

Thanx for the response..Yes, i mean't to say that you are playing G ADD 9, not G6. "Now, since the overdubbed piano bass is playing an A over the Em7, that might convince you that either Lennon or Harrison were playing an A7sus4, but I believe it is an apparent chord (combination of guitars plus piano) that you are hearing rather than the actual chords played by Harrison and Lennon". Maybe, but maybe NOT. We would have to isolate the guitar tracks and hear them on their own in a clean fashion.. As far as I know, that hasn't been achieved yet. Until it is, no one will know for sure.

First off, I want to say that it's great to have someone who actually knows what they are doing. There is so much crap on you tube, it's sad. The "beatles to a tee" videos are very good, though not perfect. I actually find your dissections closer to the real thing. Which is why i find myself in the odd position of disagreeing with you on this one. The ending you present here D- Bmin-Bb7- G6- A6 although sounds good, i hear it more as D-Bmin-Bb7- A7sus4-A6. So in other words,it's your G6 to A6 that is my contention. Try the A7sus4- A6 and let me know what you think. The important thing is to play the A7sus4 where the 7th of A which is G, is coming out of the 4th string or D, and not the higher register of B or the 2nd string.

Fantastic! Not many amateur guitarists can play Beatles songs like you can. I wish I could :-)

On the J160-E it's Bb X1333X. On the Ric 360/12 it's Bb7 686796.

Can anyone tell me what that chord is near the end, at 1:30? Cheers.

I too was always fascinated by George Martin's piano bass for this song. It really seemed like overkill to me, but it does add some depth to the sound. You'll notice that the piano bass is virtually inaudible in the mix of my video.

I also appreciate this song, having called a radio station in Vineland, NJ late one night to ask it be played. Yes, the emphasis on guitars here is a new, interesting way to listen to this song. A different way is to listen to the piano, because I heard at least one or two cases of the guitars changing from D major to B minor but the piano is still striking D major chords (yes, I liked what I heard).
