An original video for Badfinger's 1974 song, 'Got to Get Out of Here', released on their LP 'Wish You Were Here'.

'Wish You Were Here' received positive reviews in Rolling Stone magazine upon its release and is sometimes considered to be the band's best work. However, it was pulled out of record stores in 1975, seven weeks after release because of a lawsuit between Warner Bros. music publishing and Badfinger's management.

Badfinger's Manager, Stan Polley, had been screwing Badfinger out of money their whole careers. Amidst hit records and support from The Beatles (Badfinger was originally signed by Apple Records, a label founded by The Beatles), Badfinger was broke, and lived together with their wives in the same house for a long period of time.

Frustration created by Polley would later lead to Pete Ham's departure from the group and eventually his suicide the same year. Ham hanged himself, just one month before him and his wife had been expecting their first born's birth. Ham included Polley's name on his suicide note, saying that he "is a soulless bastard" and that he'd take Polley with him. Polley was known to have ties with the mafia.

By 1977, both Joey Molland and Tom Evans were out of the music business. Mike Gibbins was still drumming as a session musician. Molland later described his dire economic circumstances: "Thank God I had guitars and I was able to sell some of that stuff. We were flat broke, and that's happened to me three times, where my wife and I have had to sell off everything and go and stay with her parents or do whatever. I installed carpeting for a while in Los Angeles and stuff like that. You do what you've got to do to survive." In London, Evans briefly had jobs insulating pipes, and driving a taxi.

In 1983, Evans and Molland had a heated argument over the phone, eventually leading to Evans committing suicide himself, by hanging, just as Ham had done less than a decade before.

It's a shame that a band with so much talent had such bad luck. They are known for classic records such as 'Day After Day', 'Come and Get It' (penned by Paul McCartney), 'Without You' and 'Baby Blue', but songs like this remain unheard. This is just one example of many underrated/overlooked songs by them.
