+Alex James It wasn't called jazz in the 30's. It was just music. People didn't care much for genre back then, same with books and movies(well duh). Shortly, it was a better time if you don't count the world wars and the technology back then. Yeah hell of a time.

@DeanBrunel: That's what I've been asking myself, too. It's the hell of a good trumpet voice, I wanna practice this one. Several alternatives by who could have been present at the 1929 sessions: Trombonist Tommy Dorsey on cornet (improbable, he wasn't SUCH a good cornetist), Phil Napoleon (possible), Red Nichols (likely by auditory impression).

You know, Annette was not a fan of her singing, and her recording career ended in I believe 1934. She was so good -- how could she not have known how good she was? As we say in the Catholic Church, It's a mystery.
