This song has "autotune" written all over it. Shame really. The arrangement is sound and the concept is really good, but it all comes off like the producer did most of the work, which cheapens the whole experience. You know when you hear a band and just KNOW that they couldn't sound anything close to this live? Yeah, that's this band.They just come off as a band that was created from the ground up to be marketable. Pretty girl singing clean poppy vocals in harmony with pretty guy who looks and sounds like he could be in a boy band? Check. Scruffy but still presentable guy doing scream vocals? Check. Generic "heavy" riffs (some of which are actually pretty good) with synthesizers doing all the work as far as melody is concerned? Check. Pop inspired chorus? Check. Generic "dark but inspiring" lyrics? Check. Seriously, this band is pretty much the metal equivalent of Katy Perry (actually, I think Katy Perry might have more originality than these guys).Don't get me wrong, the tunes are certainly catchy, and there's some decent material here, but it's all ultimately very forgettable. It's unfortunate, because there are some really talented musicians here. The guitarist is actually pretty good, and the vocalists have some really good chops. It all just comes off sounding TOO clean, and the complete lack of anything even remotely unique just taints the whole experience. This band just reeks of "design by committee."
