Umm? You're allowed to have this thing called "variation" in music. I hear the grounded bass, not sure what you mean by this post. Traditionally, harmonies change during a Passacaglia..

Though beautiful....the design of this particular composition is not a true passacaglia. The harmonic structure changes, almost to different sections though closely related episodic transitions occur. True Passacaglia have a continual grounded bass (which can be passed through other voices). Though not a true passacaglia still doesn't take away from the beauty of the work

For me, this was the song on the show that made me realize that this wasn't a normal show...it was something special. You don't hear songs like these on TV shows all that often. Also, this song is a perfect companion to the scene that it's from.
