"The future. A dark, desolate world. A world of war, suffering, loss, on both sides. Mutants, and the Humans who dared to help them. Fighting an enemy we cannot defeat. Are we destined down this path? Destined to destroy ourselves like so many other species before us? Or can we evolve fast enough to change ourselves? Change our fate? Is the future truly set?" --Professor Charles Frances Xavier, a.k.a. Professor X, (portrayed by Sir Patrick Hewes Stewart).I think it's pretty darn cool that John Ottman re-used the themes that he established for the franchise in X2: X-Men United but also mixed it with some "synthesized elements of some analog synths and electric piano and bass and some guitar". After all, in light of its time travel setting between 2023 and 1973, the more modern elements were just a PERFECT match for this film; and whenever you re-use the themes that you established for a franchise, it helps maintain "thematic continuity", which is basically where you hear a certain theme in new installments and go like, "Okay, this is...", in this case, this theme identifying the X-Men -- but create TOTALLY different themes for the same franchise in ALMOST EVERY new installment, and it becomes nothing more or less than a just scatterbrained mixture of ideas that one doesn't even recognize. Some new themes are okay, but only if you reboot them, (or reinvent them), 'cause otherwise, you won't be able to identify, or find any significant connection to, the new themes in an already-established franchise. Some people just need to explain that to the studios and crew members, most particularly the composer(s). What say, folks? Anyone agree with me?

I can see everyone is happy when this theme is used in DOFP, wait until you watch Apocalypse. The musics took my breath away. John Ottman really did his job well.

This isn't literally actually the music from the opening credits. Watch the opening credits and listen to this, they're slightly different.Credits are better.
