Hi, the first one seemed to generate a bit of interest, so here's another - this time it's more about sound than technique but hopefully still of interest to Genesis fans!

some chorus can simulate the doppler effect of the leslie with a little bit of spring verb simulation, i have a very convincing melotron sound with the software reason for that kind of King Crimsonesque or Genesis tone, Clavia also released some melotron tape patch for there hardware, people should use it, with some effect processing.

Hello Doug, I have the Roland JV-1080 with the Keyboards of the '60s-'70s expansion, so I have almost the same patches/tones you have on your XP30. Which patches/tones do you use for the Mellotron Strings/Brass/Bass accordion sounds? There are several Mellotron strings patches available, and no brass and no bass accordion. Thank you.

Yet I just got a Nord Electro 4-D last fall, and maybe I can load the sound banks into it & combine the sounds...?

I have an old Mellotron M400 and the Manetron Mk. 2 app for an iPad...of course you cannot get the bass drone foundation with the intro complete with the swirling effect using each instrument as a standalone, but wow...it's so great to finally figure out such a great and rather sophisticated song done over 40 years ago...

This is great! I can't play the keyboards very well but it's good to watch.

Can't post the link but if you Google "Watcher of the skies sheet music" there seems to be loads

There's much easier way to find the sound of the WOTS Turn on the keyboard and find the 'mellotron' in your preset lol

I hate to be that guy, but I can't seem to find any accurate sheet music. You seem to really know what you're doing. Particularly I'm having problems with the dissonant part because he plays some really weird chords, I think. Mind pointing me towards some sheet music? I will be forever in debt if you could.

I have a pretty good ear, and this is very, very close. The only thing that I think is missing is that the distortion and "wow" of the Mellotron was heavier in the recording I know best, which is "Genesis Live" - these chords are the very first thing I ever heard them play.

I have an XP-30 with the "60s & 70s Keyboards" expansion card and it does have many awesome m-tron patches. I'm just wondering if this the board and card you're using here. Thanks.
