Love the Buddy Hollyesque flavor of this song; its still pure Tommy Roe.

Relax folks. This version is the original - Judd 1022. It was released in February 1962 and this version did not chart. The ABC-Paramount 10329 version was released in June 1962, and went to number 1 on the charts in July. All other versions are remakes. Great song.

Not the original, but its not at all bad. I like it. Vocal style is different, a bit throaty. Less range, but good nontheless.

I like this mono mix better than the stereo. The drums blend in more, I prefer it that way on this song.

Listen to Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue" and then listen to this.

I am staying out of the "original or not" argument. But this is a wonderful version. As I remember the hit version here in the States, Tommy tried too hard to be another Buddy Holly, hiccups and all. Here, he seems to just open his mouth and let the music pour out. In my book, this version is far better than the original "hit" as I remember it.

I love this. Especially the oh-oh-oh-oh part.

Yeah, fascinating, the label is exactly identical to mine. But they are not the same version are they. And yours was not the one in the charts. Maybe you should check it out , certainly rare to have a different recording like that. Especially on the original label (?). And even if it was a demo recording it would be marked. I bought a lot of singles in the 60's (and still got a lot now) about 9-times-out-of-10 - I can usually tell when I hear one that is not the original recording.
