Where were those photos taken? Some of them remind me of the forests here in Southeast Alaska...which are being clearcut relentlessly.

I was lucky to hear Sandy perform this live in upstate NY around 1972 and she sang this with Fairport in front of Mimi Farina who was also in attendance at this folk festival. It was the late Richard Farina who wrote this.

Be Love

As gentle tides go rolling byAlong the salt sea strandThe colors blend and roll as oneTogether in the sandAnd often do the winds entwineDo send their distant callThe quiet joys of brotherhoodAnd Love is Lord of allThe oak and weed together riseAlong the common groundThe mare and stallion light and darkHave thunder in their soundThe rainbow sign, the blended flowerStill have my heart in thrallThe quiet joys of brotherhoodAnd Love is Lord of allBut man has come to plough the tideThe oak lies on the groundI hear their tires in the fieldsThey drive the stallion downThe roses bleed both light and darkThe winds do seldom callThe running sands recall the timeWhen Love was Lord of all

*The Quiet Joys Of Brotherhood*--*Sandy Denny*This is simply exquisite. Sandy overdubbed her voice many times to create the a capella harmonies and the legendary Dave Swarbrick plays the haunting violin outro. This is an astounding example of the rapturous, miraculous instrument that was Sandy Denny's voice. This is a singer who reaches deep into the secret corners of the human soul. Enjoy!A special shout out to +Emma Selle ...it's not easy pulling up stakes and moving away from your friends to a town full of strangers, but you're a strong, centered and brilliant person. Despite the anxiety, grief and trepidation I'm certain you will find in this some kernel of excitement and adventure. Grab hold of it and make it your own. Home isn't simply a building or a community--home is something you carry inside of yourself wherever you go. :)
