This is a cool video of The Producers singing Certain Kind of Girl off their first album. Too bad they didn't make it. I ran across this surfing the web and it brought back some memories!

If this doesn't take you back to a place & time in the early 80's, you were either too young, too old, or listening to the wrong music at that time. They should've been at least as big as The Knack, and they had what it takes to be big worldwide --- too bad the record company didn't have what it takes to make them that big. Very talented guys & very sad how it turned out, but at least they got a little of the spotlight & fame on MTV videos & colleges/bars everywhere & I was there, front row.

@AlabubbaTrucker from the English Brothers KCMO -- Who was the record company exec who trashed them? (Try us at either [email protected] or [email protected] to continue this discussion...)

@tigerfreak We saw this band so many times in New Orleans we lost count! We also saw them in other areas around Southeast Louisiana. They were great, and are a great bunch of guys. Easy to talk with and to get along with. We now live in Kansas City. (contact: [email protected] or [email protected] )

Saw these guys many times back in the day. I've been listening in the car again. Great songs, great singing. It would make my day if they would put out a new LP.

Such an underrated/underappreciated band! I'm still surprised that they weren't bigger. Great vocals, tight musicianship, and catchy hooks. True, their sound was undeniably "80s," but it still holds up and is FAR superior than most of the crap on MTV and Top 40 radio today

Well, Yetroym, they "sort of made it." They really SHOULD have been incredibly huge. If ANYBODY in this world deserved to get rich, those guys did. But they didn't...get rich, that is. They were totally screwed by one record company exec who trashed them through at least two different companies. They still gig some, and they are truly a nice bunch of fellows.

Played the plastic off this album in the 80's! Worked at a record store and picked up 3 copies. Wore them all out and bought the CD. Played in a local band and we did 3 cuts off the debut, including this one. Pop rock writing just doesn't get any better!

These guys were (are?) so incredible. Their self-titled album contains some of the best songwriting ever. Wish they'd have hit it even better. Thank you for being the soundtrack to my high school years, Producers.
