I don't think the concept of "completely original" even exists. :) Even the velvet underground had their inspirations. Everyone wants to be "unique" but we can't help but be affected by everything we come in contact with. Something that was truly completely original would probably appear so alien that we couldn't even identify with it. But, I'm over-thinking it. Good music anyway.

I recognize that mosshart does not have a technically good singing voice, but I love how she changes it up, and how she does patti smith like she is more channeling her than trying to sound like her. there's a difference.
