The tenth track from the Guess Who's 1968 LP 'Wheatfield Soul'.

Perhaps the worst song ever recorded, 'We're Coming to Dinner' has no strong points in any musical category. This song most likely should have been left off of the LP, even if the LP did indeed need an album filler, or at least not released as the closing track. This sounds like your typical Lovin' Spoonful throwaway.

Composer(s): Bachman/Cummings

Performer(s): The Guess Who

I've always liked it. Jazzy blues were happening in 1968. I can think of a number of Guess Who songs I like less than this one; but still, I'd never say any of their music is the worst ever recorded. There's a lot of crap out there much worse than any of the Guess Who catalog. I've enjoyed every incarnation of the band that included Burton Cummings and their live shows were always amazing. Their "Rockin'," "Artificial Paradise," and "#10" was my favorite era.

I think this song is good. Great instrumental prowess demonstrated by the group, especially Garry Peterson. Peterson,s short drum solo at the end is very nice.

530 hits ... yikes ... people just don't know what their miss'in. AWESOME song ! The Guess Who wrote so many great songs that are so obscure today. Wheatfield Soul is still one of my favourites !

@trfesok It's a little different though. I mean, 'Friends of Mine' was meant to be ridiculous, this is an actual song... Put it this way - this song wouldn't make the final cuts of 'Revolver'.

I don't know -- it's not nearly as ridiculous as "Friends of Mine". I always thought of it Burton trying to do something along the lines of Bernstein's "West Side Story" in a rock mode -- sort of Broadway. But yeah, most of the songs on the album are better.

@GuyWithNoName67 I'm not trying to get a high view count. My previous account had about a zillion views. I uploaded the full album, I didn't necessarily want this song in my uploads, but, yeah... Another thought - the description can also attract views.

Just a thought, but by saying that this is the worst song ever recorded, not many people are gonna watch this video. Fortunately, I kinda like this song.
