From their first album, here recorded live @ Backstage at The Green, Kinross.

March 24th 2012. This was their final encore to a FANTASTIC night, and also my all time fave G&L song.

Thanks to everyone who provided information, either here or by PM. Would have been nice to have Jimmy J in the line-up too, for auld lang syne, but I gather his wife has MS and he doesn't tour these days.

The G&L band on this tour consisted of Bobby Wishart (sax and keyboards), Billy Campbell (bass/backing vocals) and Tommy O'Donnell (drums); it was Bobby (not Jimmy) who duplicated the sound of the accordion on keyboards. I saw them in concert in Edinburgh; Benny was on either acoustic guitar or keyboards for most of the show, but played mandolin with a harmonica on a holder in 'Willie'.

I know! Actually no, he didn't play accordion in any of the songs that night, from memory. He was mostly on keyboard, guitar, mandolin, and harmonica. When they wanted accordion (check the Malt and Barley Blues vid), Jimmy Jewel the sax player that night duplicated the sound on keyboards.

Notice Benny wasn't playing an accordion on this one, like on the original recording - a pity, since it adds so much to the atmosphere of that track. Did he play one at all that evening? BTW, which other songs did they do?
