While this was still in rotation on AM radio, I was about 5 and one of the buildings in the main drag of the town in which I grew up had just been gutted by a fire that left it standing with all the evidence of what went on in it still intact. I could see half melted florescent signs in the accountant's upstairs offices, half burnt soda fountains in the shop downstairs, radiators that were falling through holes in the floor and some mysterious equipment in, what turned out to be the Western Union office in which the fire started. I wanted to go exploring through that place, but it was probably a good thing that it was fenced off from those with more curiosity than sense. Needless to say, I've always associated this record with that place.

Thanks, MusicMike! A 45 with which I was obsessed as a toddler- an exotic story of an (even then) obsolete technology told through hypnotic, key changing vocal harmonics and onomatopoeia. My Uncle Don & Aunt Kathy generously gave me their records,, including some 78s by a dude named Elvis... blindtrucker - AWESOME comment & totally done the same! I've also started to play music I import to iTunes on "repeat", like I USED to listen to music, pre-CD, as a kid DJ w/a Close 'n' Play phonograph.

Gypsy Woman never existed in stereo, but the tapes do, missing overdubs. Nothing has been planed for release as of 2011. We can only hope.
