Cool song, good group. The Five Americans were a group of USA guys from Texas willing to compete with the Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Dave Clark 5....etc etc. The British Invasion. GO USA....USA....USA!

What is with guys like Allen and taking digs at rock singers? Allen must have really been jealous of them.

It's a good song from a great period(65 - 68) during high school, listening intently to Roby Younge and Rick Shaw spinning the discs on WQAM(AM 560) in South Florida.

I suspect that this was from a Summer--replacement variety show Steve Allen hosted for CBS in 1967, given that "Western Union" was a big hit that year.

I picked this one for the tv buffs from back in the day, lol. I barely remember the Steve Allen show, but we weren't allowed a lot of tv time when I was growing up. I believe this is from 1966.

The Five Americans played at the R.L. Turner High School prom in 1968. At the prom, they also did a very nice version of "Massachusetts".
