*We need more **#banjo** around these parts!*From Tom Isenhour: *Before Andy Griffith discovered his beloved "Darlin' Family" to be on his show, this is what the Dillards did first on TV when arriving in California. It's hard to believe this video clip is so clean to be so old (1963). While they are trying to be funny here, there is nothing funny about their picking and singing. These 4 guys had it goin' on. They set a new high for a new generation of bluegrass pickers coming along at this time. I can't think of another mandolin player that holds and picks his mandolin like Dean Webb.*#bluegrass

For folks who like this music but weren't brought up in the country, the irony of the first verse is that a muley cow is a cow without horns.

These 4 guys turned a generation of young people to the happy cadences of Bluegrass Music. I still play their first almun (CD) in my 21st century Prius!

Love the Dillards. Bluegrass in Tuxedos.....now that's a rarity. I used to hunt Dillard Ducks on Lake Capahopa.

They were nothing short of amazing! Doug was a banjo god (my favorite, R.I.P) and Dean was perfect on mandolin. For me their Ozark style always felt blazing fast and perfect. Their version of Bluegrass Breakdown is the best!
