"Young Blood" is a song written by the songwriting team Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, together with Doc Pomus, in 1957. The song was included in the musical revue "Smokey Joe's Cafe".

Lyrics:

I saw her standin' on the corner

A yellow ribbon in her hair

I couldn't stop myself from shoutin

Look a-there Look a-there

Look a-there Look a-there

Young blood, young blood, young blood

I can't get you out of my mind

I took one look and I was fractured

I tried to walk but I was lame

I tried to talk but I just stuttered

What's your name What's your name

What's your name What's your name

Young blood, young blood, young blood

I can't get you out of my mind

What crazy stuff She looked so tough

I had to follow her all the way home

Then things went bad; I met her dad

He said, "You'd better leave my daughter alone"

I couldn't sleep a wink for tryin'

I saw the rising of the sun

And all night my heart was cryin'

You're the one, you're the one

You're the one, you're the one

Young blood, young blood, young blood

I can't get you out of my mind

I remember listening to this on the AM radio in the 50's - better than what we got now.

Never heard a bad version of this, not even Bruce Willis could ruin this classic!

This was the flip side of "Searchin'". "Searchin'" was the A side, but IMO this song has stood the test of time better. Also, it gave its name to a group, the Youngbloods.

I seem to remember 'The Holies' covering this, and I think it was the B-side of 'Searchin'. Can't find it on here. Anybody know if I am right, (or wrong)?

I like this song but it's creepy. You get the feeling Megan's Law was written for these guys.

This is the original..Doc Pomus actually wrote it and gave it to Leiber and Stoller to produce, they graciously gave him part credit....Doc heard this while on his honeymoon and deciced he could be a writer....he teamed with Marty Shuman and gave us ..."This Magic Moment,Save the Last Dance for Me....and many more.
