On this day in 1965 {Feb. 10th} the Coasters performed "Searchin'" on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!' Eight years earlier on May 6th, 1957 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #3 and spent a half-year on the Top 100 {26 weeks} And on May 10th it reached #1 {for 12 weeks} on Billboard's R&B Singles chart The record was a rare two-sided Top 10 hit; the B-side, "Young Blood", reached #8 & stayed on the Top 100 for 24 weeks RIP Jimmy O'Neill {Shindig's host, 1940 - 2013}
